It’s not often that the best of artists get together to create something the outcome of which supersedes expectations. This is the case when Backbeat - a group of veterans in country music - released their collective recording album ‘The sessions”. This vibrant album starts with a bang, picks more pace song after song and suddenly ends, leaving you craving for more!
Led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Andrew Clermont, this is an ultimate bluegrass rendering that has both original score as well as covers. Guitar, violin and banjo together gel with the support of tight percussions and create a distinct collective sound. And what makes the sound complete is amazing harmony & chorus singing along with peppy solos. Recording of each voice gave a very rich delivery of the combined harmonies in the album, which also maintains few quips & quotes throughout the recording, which aptly justifies the name ‘the sessions’.
The stepping stones to the album’s concept were laid in Tamworth, Australia when Radical Rick from Radio 2YOU FM, Tamworth brought together the award winning songwriter and rhythm guitarist, Brian Dover, a dedicated Banjo player with colorful tenor voice, Daryl (now Jack) Melbourne and Drummer Bruce Priddis. The band got its dynamic frontline when Andrew Clermont, a Gold Guitar Winner with the Three Chord Wonders and 3-time Bluegrass Guitar Champ, came in with his quick fingers ricocheting Jack’s Banjo prowess. It was only after three months of vigorous rehearsals that recordings from ‘the sessions’ were clinched.
The Backbeat CD has successfully made a mark in many people’s country collections - now here to top your wish-list. So, get ready for a rockin’ taste of bluegrass blended with country/folk music, for the ‘sessions’ are soon to begin again!
